The first of May is an interesting day in many European Countries. May Day, as it’s known, leaves many businesses and attractions closed. Such was the situation in 2019 in Vienna. Alas, while many shops and cafes were closed, you could take the tram to the hamlet of Grinzing and visit wineries and Heurigers – Viennese wine taverns. A short tram ride from the city center and you're in a “pretty darn charming” village surrounded by tiny drinking spots with picturesque courtyards and simple menus of delicious small bites and local wines.

The buildings are painted vibrant colors which show up awesome in this photo…punctuated with the amazing texture of the ivy and gravel path leading to the courtyard and archway.
